Etsy Wednesday is finally back after a two week break over the holidays!  The time off has allowed me to look back at what we've seen so far and consider what we need to see more of.  For starters, I'm shocked to say that I haven't yet featured any visual art on Etsy Wednesday, so I've decided to dedicate the month of January to it!

Obviously, when choosing a piece you want to display in your personal space, it has to be something you'll enjoy looking at every day. It has to suit your personal requirements.  The most important for me is that it's thought provoking and also that it makes me feel at home.

When I found Lisa Hurwitz, I instantly felt something stirring in my imagination and it brought back memories, making me relaxed.  The colors and backdrops reminded me just a little of Mary Engelbreit.  My mom has a book (or two?) of her work at home and I used to love looking through it when I was a kid.  Also, the faces in Lisa's work reminds me of an old art project we did back in grade school where we stuffed a stocking full of cotton and sewed little eyes, noses and mouths.

Not to compare though.  These works are definitely original.  The piece you see above was painted in oil and linen on wood, but what you'll recieve is a 7" X 10" print on "English14" Smooth White Cotton paper.  Each print in this adorable little shop is only $25.  A small investment for a lifetime of comfort, right?

I also really love "Three Aprons", "Hide and Seek" (you can also see a before and after of this one on her blog), and "Field Trip", just to name a few.
