Fleeting moments...

Squirrel in Prospect Park (by RGP)

I realized yesterday why I like photography so much.  I mean, there's a zillion reasons why, but most important to me is how I'm able to catch a simple fleeting moment that may normally go overlooked, and turn it into an unforgettable memory like this.

I was asked if this little guy was actually stuffed. No, he's totally real and totally posing for me.  Ok, maybe he was frozen in fear (though a little unlikely here in the city where these critters are brave!)  If I didn't have my camera, by now I would have forgotten all about him.

I also realized that's why I used to write in my journal so much (I don't do it as often as I should anymore, this blogging thing tends to be priority).  I hate the idea that we go through life and do so many things, but often forget after a few years...or even days.  Catching moments like this with a camera or a pen helps you remember the little (and big) moments as they were.  To me this is important because if I don't remember doing it, then it's like it never happened.

It's so, absolutely, true.

Completely.

I love that I have a record of every day, in some way, for the past year and a half.

Also, I'll be in NYC fri and sat if you want to do anything!

He's cute, but it looks like maybe he needs to go on a diet. I'm sure that's one of his New Year's resolutions!
