I dread rainy days in Manhattan. Not because of the rain or getting splashed by passing cabs, because of the jerks who walk around with beach umbrellas (I kid you not) and refuse to lift them over other people's heads when they pass by. 

I swear, I too am amazed that I have actually been poked in the face and eye multiple times without so much as a "sorry."  In fact, for the last 7 years or so, I have said over and over that people need a damn permit to walk with those things...nevermind a size limit. 

SO! When I saw the super duper, totally awesome "Polite Umbrella," I did a little happy dance.  (check out the site for a video of the umbrella in action)

You think I can get Mayor Bloomberg to make these mandatory?
