There are tons of things I wanted to capture on my vacation down south this weekend, but most of all I wanted lightning. Lucky for me, the Outer Banks has a thunderstorm just about every other night so I was confident I'd catch atleast one.
The weekend actually went by completely storm free...until my very last night when I caught what you see above. (there's a few more on my flickr page).
I wanted the tree in the shot because of it's jagged limbs that resemble a lightning bolt but little did I know mother nature was going to pretty much give me an upside down mirror image of it in lightning form. Pretty awesome, eh?
The best part was the porch full of friends, all cheering me on, oohing and aahing along with the lightning and the photographs that followed. It was a memorable moment on so many levels.
I got everything I wanted out of that trip and more. Can't wait for the fella to return home in August.

OMG I am so happy that I was on the porch to witness this event. I miss you so much, but I'm glad to have had a weekend with you on the beach. Hope to see you again soon.
