This incredible series of photographs by Dina Goldstein took my breath away at first glance. In the project, Goldstein takes well known fairy tale characters and places them in modern day settings. Like Cinderella getting soused in a dirty bar or Belle going under a plastic surgeon's knife.

Etsy Wednesday - Big Beautiful Wallets!

For years now I've carried a tiny wallet that's just big enough to hold my cards and little bit of cash. I love that I can hide it in a small pocket but the big problem is, it's easy to lose. So lately I've been in the market for a large wallet, but always end up empty handed because, well unless I want to splurge, there's just nothing unique and fun...at least where I'm able to shop.

Tada! Etsy to the rescue as usual. These wallets (and pencil holders for us artistes!) from L&B Accessories are perfect. They're big, that's for sure...but so gorgeously handcrafted that I wouldn't mind showing it off.

The embroidered wallets feature a design created by Patty. The big one pictured up top is done on a natural linen/cotton fabric and the leaves wrap around to the back.

Each one measures approximately 8x4 (closed); has 10 card slots; a zippered coin pouch; three pockets for cash, receipts and checkbooks; a vinyl ID window and a magnetic strap closure.

Best part? Everything in the shop ranges from just $15-$55! The wallets you see above are just $38 and the pencil case is $15.

It's alright! I'm here!

The last few days have been fun, new, interesting, mind numbing, crazy-making and all around quite an experience! No, I didn't go to an amusement park or a trip overseas...I worked on my very first photo shoot/commission!

A good friend of mine is directing a new play here in the city called "Lyric Is Waiting" and he very kindly asked me to shoot production shots and the shot for the postcards and posters. Every part of me wanted to back out and say "No way, I'm not qualified." Now in hindsight I am thrilled I got over the nerves and did it.

The shot you see above is one of the pieces not being used. It's a lovely shot (IMO) but definitely not giving off the right vibe for the play. Once I get the actual postcard, I'll share it with you.

I'll be shooting the production shots sometime at the end of the month. Between here and there I can finally relax and know that I got through my very first photo shoot alive.

I'm also pretty sure I didn't embarrass myself too much. Awesome right?

Etsy Wednesday - Summer Sea Glass

Summer is officially here and naturally that's got most of us dreaming of or heading out to the beach. I don't know about you but I've always wanted to find a piece of genuine sea glass, but in the end I give up the search and head to the local gift shop to grab a handful. However, oddly enough, I've never actually owned a piece of sea glass jewelry.

I know, weird right?

What I love about the beautiful designs in the Sea Find Design's shop is the range from simple to intricate. I have a preference for a piece like the necklace on top, but also "ooh" and "aah" over the detailed, sterling silver casings the designer creates.

And as you can see, it doesn't stop at jewelry. There's also vases like the one pictured above and other gorgeous treats for your home.

With prices ranging from $15-$150, there's definitely something for everyone. So if you can't make it to the beach this summer or just don't feel like seeking out your own piece of sea glass, it looks like you've found the right place!

Monday Moment - Here comes the rain again...

It has been overcast and raining here in NYC for what feels like forever. I caught this photo on the way to work when it cleared up for about an hour or two before sunset.

Honestly though, I'm not complaining. I mean, sure..it'd be nice to catch some rays but when I think of the heat that will inevitably come along with it....well, I'm not rushing it.

Gotta See It - Michael Ferris Jr. Sculpture

I think it's safe to say these images speak for themselves. These incredible sculptures by Michael Ferris Jr. are absolutely one of a kind. Each one is created with recycled wood and pigmented grout.

The works you see above are just scratching the surface, so please do check out his site. And keep an eye on his press releases so you can catch them in person sometime. Sadly I just missed an exhibition here in NYC at the George Adams Gallery. I hope he'll return soon with more!

Monday Moment - Almost Done

It's almost that time again. We close the show on Sunday and I get some time off to enjoy the summer. It's been a long run....lots of fake blood to clean, automation to fix, drama to gossip about. Just your usual theatrical production.

So today I'm enjoying my last day off...before a whole bunch of days off. I can finally feel my brain starting to relax...
