Working Making Doing – Sneak A Peek

I’m in one of those weird places where I’m actually creating so much that I haven’t had the chance to blog about it yet. Here’s some sneak peeks…

If I haven’t popped by to say hello in the last few days, forgive me! It’s been a kind of a transformation week. A lot has been moving and shaking around here… literally! More on that and everything else soon!

What are you up to these days?

A Little 365 Weekend Catch Up Time

Working on the weekends is just… well it’s just been my life for so long now that it seems silly to complain. But I gotta tell you, I miss them sometimes. Walking to work in mid-town on a nice Saturday afternoon when everyone else is heading to the park or even to the theater (where I work) can make me a little jealous.

Speaking of working on Saturdays, have you heard? Your mailperson is gonna have a 2 day weekend starting in August.

Weekend Catch Up – One Long Weekend

We had a long weekend at work due to President’s day. Normally we only have one show on Sunday, but we switched it up so people could enjoy the theater on their holiday night off. We had a sold out audience so it was entirely worth it, but it was loooong. And I am whooped.

Here’s a few images I captured over the last few days for the most excellent and so far successful 365 daily creations project I’m working on.

A view of our hangout spot at work. I saw a lot of it this weekend.

Our stage manager took pity on us and baked us some amazing bread.

If you look closely, you can see the sign for my theater in this shot.

Executive Decision: Quitting So I Don’t Quit

First, a little catch up on my daily creations:

Well, color me corrected. I’ve decided to just cut it out with the prompts for Daily Creations because I simply wasn’t doing them. And because it was stressing me out. The other day I thought “I’ll at least finish this month,” and then 2 days went by and I didn’t do anything (except take photos of what I wanted).

I did enjoy the small creations I was making, like the crown and chair, so I’d like to incorporate that on occasion, but I am hereby wiping the stress out of my 365 project and going back to whatever I want.

I AINT THE BOSS OF ME!…. wait…

It definitely feels like quitting, but if it keeps me from completing my 365 project, then it’s got to go. Have you ever had to make a decision like this?

A Blizzard and a Crown

Can you believe it? We’re getting buried in snow and I still have to go to work? Whoever said “the show must go on” is dead to me right now.

In other news, here’s my crown for today’s #andcreations prompt. I love making all these little crafts and shooting them. It’s more fun that I thought it would be. This one is made out of notebook paper and a new bronze sharpie. You can even see my fingerprint on it!

Crown Well, into the snow with me now. *sigh*

Finding Zen Through Pin Stripes

Finding Zen

Yesterday’s prompt was “pin stripes” and I had no idea it would lead me to such a fulfilling process. I’ve always loved fixing up old photos with Photoshop (and would love to make a job of it someday), but this was probably the most satisfying fix I’ve completed.

I was looking to test my skills, so I searched around Flickr. There’s a group over there that does Photoshop challenges which is where I found this original image.

This is by far my favorite “creation” since I began the project and I haven’t been this zoned out on a project in awhile.

Catching Up Because I Suck At Motivating When Life is Hard

I’m three days behind on my daily creations project because I simply SUCK at keeping it together when I’m feeling low. I had a rough couple of days emotionally  and unlike most good artists, my reaction is to sit & stare. I wish I had that amazing ability most creators had where I could turn my dark energy into creative energy.

Maybe that’s something I need to start practicing more diligently.

Anyhow, without further ado: #’s 3-5: Buddy Holly Glasses, Chair and Scissors.

Buddy Holly Glasses

I don’t own any Buddy Holly glasses, so I made some out of paper and hung ‘em on my wall. WIN!

Chair

I was stuck at work so I made a chair out of toothpicks and gaffers tape. Techie win!

Scissors

My most favorite pair of super old scissors that I probably stole from my mom. So much winning!

Snowflake – Because I Wish It Would Snow.

snowflake You may or may not know that I started a daily prompt for the month of February that’s also part of my Daily Creations project. Won’t you play along?

I chose snowflake for my first day because, dammit, I miss the damn snow. Two years ago we saw some of the most amazing snow here in NYC. In fact, it was 2 years ago today that we had our second big storm that winter. I know that because I went to San Francisco 2 years ago today and I was the first and only plane to make it out that morning.

We’ve barely seen a light dusting since then and I’m tired of it.

I started doodling snowflakes. I even tried cutting a few out of paper, but I just kept thinking of past storms and how I wished I was taking photos of the snow. So instead I went back into my archives and layered a few of my old shots to make the new one you see above.

Maybe a little wishful thinking will go a long way?
