A simple, but very fun moment for me in the world of the internets… one of my Etsy Treasuries made the front page!
You can find about a thousand recipes for Kale chips online and they’re not going to be much different from this one. I’m just here to tell you that a non-cook is fully capable of making this insanely easy snack, which is a pretty fantastic replacement for less healthy munchies.
Ok, ready?
The hardest part is remembering to buy kale when you’re at the store. I used red kale, but you can use either.
Ingredients:
Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Cut the stems off and throw away (unless you know of something to do with kale stems). Pluck the leaves (make ‘em chip size!). Wash and dry them in a salad spinner if you have one. If you don’t, simply wash and pat dry with a towel (paper or otherwise).
Step 3: Drizzle olive oil on the leaves. Use just enough to get a light coat on all the leaves.
Step 4. Salt your leaves! (Start with less because you can always shake more on later)
Step 5. Lay the leaves out on a baking sheet as evenly as you can. Use two baking sheets if you want.
Step 6: Bake for 10-15 minutes. I have a really hot gas stove so everything tends to cook a little faster. I just kept an eye on them and when the edges started to turn brown… done!
Step 7: EAT.
Spring makes me want plants and flowers all over the apartment. Sadly it doesn’t get a ton of light which limits the possibilities, but I’m definitely going to attempt growing some herbs (I’m ADDICTED to basil). But first I need to come up with a fun and interesting way to plant them, like all these super swell options I found at Etsy.
Do you grow herbs or have a lot of plants? I’ll take any tips! Especially for the not-so-sun-drenched apartment…
So I’ve been quiet about it here on A&D (because I was afraid of jinxing it), but I am confident enough to mention that I am working really hard to get my lazy ass in shape…and it’s working. Part of that has been my slow ascent into the ranks of the runners here in NYC thanks to the Couch to 5K program.
I also need motivation to keep my act in gear in general. For some reason I slack off even on the things I enjoy. I have this bizarro mentality where I save the fun stuff (and that includes blogging, commenting, etc} for later so I have something to look forward to. Then suddenly it’s the end of the day and I’ve done nothing.
I think of these wallpapers as kind of a string around the finger to remind me to get up and go, in all aspects of life.

2bc1I can’t get enough of these illustrations by fashion designer Daphne van den Heuvel.
Color. Style. Grace.
How could I not be ogling light & creamy pinks after my trip to the gardens the other day? As the weather gets warmer and warmer, all I want to do is bury myself in fresh flowers. Seeing as how that’s probably not going to happen, maybe I’ll just surround myself with their hues.
Whaddya think? Up for some spring pink?
2848Is it any wonder with this new bout of beautiful spring weather that I might be in the mood for something minty fresh? I might even just put a pitcher of mint and lemon on my counter just so I can stare at it.
Of course, right as I say this we’re getting our first thunderstorm of the season followed by a cold front. Guess I’ll have to rely on Etsy to keep the spring vibe going for a few days.
I’m somewhat obsessed with time, both how little there is and how often I find myself wasting it. In fact I’ve convinced most of my time is wasted and that’s why I was instantly drawn to these letterpress prints by Alyson Provax.
Maybe I need a few as a reminder that I’m not the only one who spaces out, dwells, and can generally just be lazy. Maybe that’s ok?
2390Sadly my Easter plans had to change this year due to ATs sudden trip to Dallas for work. But that’s no reason not to enjoy it! And what better way to celebrate than with a fluffy bunny butt?
