OK so…. I went missing this week for anexciting reason… I designed and built a new desk for myself. I am so stoked and finally have the space I’ve been dreaming of to actually get some offline work done.

I still have a few finishing touches to add before I share it with you guys so look for that tomorrow or the next day. In the meantime I figured I’d go to Etsy for one of the items on my list which, as you can see, is bookends. But now I have another problem… which ones?

Which ones do you like? Need more? Head over to Knob Creek Metal Arts for 80 more options in bookends alone! I think it’s the cannon for me.. but then I see the beaver with the tree and I’m lost all over again!

DIY Personalized Headphones – So Easy. All You Really Need Are Fingers

headphones

So my awesome headphones that came with my Samsung S3 (plug because I LOVE MY PHONE) finally died after 8 months of use, and I also figured it was time for a new case. I buy only wallet cases now: A. for the extra protection. B. So I don’t have to carry a separate wallet. C. because just look how swell they are!

casedc It’s like an extra piece of jewelry. People always comment on it.

I’ve been wrapping my headphones lately too. It keeps them from tangling, protects them and looks pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I was lucky to find the perfect matching thread to my new case too. Yahtzee!

phones This is just about the easiest DIY project you could possibly take on. Simply cut a length of thread (use your judgement here) dab a little glue (i used super glue. hot glue might melt your headphones!!)  wherever you want to start the wrap, and get wrapping. Once you get to the end, dab a little more glue to finish. I added a tiny bit half way down as well to ensure the thread wouldn’t slip and slide too much.

My last pair of dead phones still have their wrap in tact after months of use. Totally worth the effort!

So whaddya think? Gonna try this out yourself? Have you already? (I know I’m not the first genius to do this after all). Let me see!

Etsy Wednesday – Don’t Mess With Texas

No, I’m not from Texas. ATs just received word that he is booked to play a great part in a new musical… but it’s in Dallas for 2 months. Trying hard to see the bright side, figured I’d dedicate today’s Etsy Wednesday to Texas, even though I’m quietly shaking my fist.

As I was sifting through the hundreds of Texas related objects, it occurred to me that this must be the most recognizable state shapes of all the state shapes. What great lines it has! As a full blooded Yankee, I find myself tempted to hang Texas on my wall. Huh.

Unrelated, but related: Where are you from? I’m from CT and then moved to NY when I was 6. Been here ever since. I’m not sure I’d wear a pendant of NY around my neck though…

Holy Easter egg decorations, batman! Thanks to the internet, Pinterest, and a handful of crafty people, we can all be inspired to go the extra mile this year. And a couple of these are insanely simple.

My favorite is #7, which actually happens to be dip dyed wooden eggs. Which one do you like? Or do you know of a different version I haven’t seen yet? OR!! Did you make a tutorial yourself? Lemme at it!

It’s always right around the start of a new month that I get that urge to rearrange my room or cut my hair. Basically just make some kind of visual change. A new background on my monitor is sometimes just enough to kill the desire before I do anything too drastic.

So I went ahead and made a couple wallpapers to share with everyone, and I used my first set of handmade Photoshop brushes (snag ‘em, they’re free) that I offered here last week!

Etsy Wednesday: Get Well Soon

etsywedgetwell

I am sick. Or in other words: A lesson in why a blogger should get some posts ready in case of emergencies. At least it gave me some inspiration for this week’s Etsy Wednesday… get well cards!

But it’s me, so they’re all funny or slightly inappropriate because the last thing I need to do when I’m not feeling well is take things seriously.

Mini Pin: Light Lavender (because I don’t really like purple)

MiniPin: Light Lavender

It’s just about that that pastely, springy, eastery time of year and I am seeing light pinks, purples and blues all over Pinterest these days. I’m not the most colorful person (I prefer greys, blacks and whites), but as an artist & photographer, I’m constantly trying to get myself to become one with those shades that scare me.

Purple and me? We’ve never been close friends. That is until today when I discovered just how pleasing this pale pourpre could be. Or maybe it’s just that bicycle that’s got me all excited….

Into That: Magic, Supernatural & More

intothat4

  • DIGESTING: I’ve been wanting to watch Supernatural from the start for awhile and recently renewed my Netflix account. 4 seasons later and I can’t turn it off. It gets better and better!
  • DOING: It has been my duty to myself to get out and enjoy my journey a little more. Remember to bring my camera all the time. See friends. Experience life. Or, as this graffiti I found one night while doing just that says, I’ve been in pursuit of magic. Life is much more interesting this way.
  • BLOGS: One of my favorite things to read on blogs is about blogs. I love tips, tricks and just seeing what everyone else is up to. This is a great round up of tips on Static Romance that I ran into this week.
  • TERRIFIC! Handmade leather boots (for the ladies) on Etsy. These are so beyond swell. I want 5 pairs.
