Yay! More amazing finds from the arts & design folder in my feed reader!  Aren't you excited?!  What'd you discover this week?

  • I'm pretty sure artist Gina Osterloh has managed to finally inspire my interior design brain.  I've had this blank wall in my bedroom for years now. I'm thinking post-its and streamers.  Yeah?  via: BOOOOOOM

It's a very drab and dreary Wednesday here in NYC so I thought I'd simply try and lighten the mood with some beautiful photography featuring bokeh found on Etsy.  We could all use a new print on the wall, right?

For those of you who don't know, bokeh is derived from the Japanese word "boke", meaning 'blur.' In photography it refers to "the creative use of lens blur as a composition."  Enjoy.

For those of you unfamiliar, every week I like to take a dive into my feed reader and remind myself why I subscribed to all these awesome sites in the first place.  Even better, I like to highlight some of the more interesting and helpful finds in my arts & design folder.  Enjoy!

Oh, and be sure to let me know if you found anything interesting in your feeds this week.  Seriously, I wanna know!

  • Anatomy is natural art right? So why not mimic it in glass like Tsunami Glassworks has with these Ventricle Vessels?  I definitely gasped upon first glance. via: 72dpi

OK, it seems I'm back up and running with a decent connection at work so I can get back to some regular posting. (Huzzah!).  So here's a late edition of this weeks feed reading. I hope you enjoy!

  • I love looking at other people's creative spaces.  They inspire me to reorganize (which is a rare and splendid thing) and usually give me a great idea or two.  The people at Blanket Mag clearly feel the same way because they're asking us to shoot our "Creative Spaces" and so they can feature them in their next issue! Oh, and they're also working on another great project about creativity and the time you were born. Check it! via: Blanket Magazine

Friday Feed Finds

It's that time of the week again where I dive head first into the arts & design folder of my feed reader and resurface with some of the coolest finds.  What about you? Find anything new and inspiring in your feed reader this week?

  • Computers and the internet have made it possible for all of us to become movie makers these days.  That's awesome but sometimes it's hard to get to the really good stuff.  Thankfully this one has been spotted and passed around.  via: BOOOOOOM

I love geeks.  I'm a geek.  I grew up with geeks.  I work with geeks. And I love the Geekery section in Etsy.  FYI, I'm not talking the carnival kind (though I wish I knew a few)). I'm talkin' "a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc"

Though I'm starting to think we can take out the 'peculiar' and 'odd' part of that as geeks quickly become a majority these days.

But hey, you certainly don't have to be a geek to enjoy these Etsy finds:

Son of Mac Magritte by Lil Decals ShoppeMacbook Decals ($4.99-$12.99)
by Lil Decal Shoppe
I don't have a Mac, I'm a PC. But I did put an apple sticker over the Gateway on my laptop for giggles. And how perfect is this play on the painting Son of Man (Mac) Magritte?

NES Hard Drive by 8 Bit MemoryNES and Super NES Hard Drives ($109-$169)
by 8-Bit Memory
Dude... this is brilliant, is it not? And so many games to choose from! External drives are available in 320, 500 and 640GB sizes.  There's also thumb drives and clocks and awesome.

Oxidation T-Shirt by IkyotoOxidation T-Shirt ($15)
by Ikyoto
These hilariously geeky shirts are screen printed with images found in a vintage Japanese science textbook.  You can get Oxidation (seen here), Evaporation and pH Equation.

Microscope Necklace by JL67Microscope Necklace ($24)
by jl67
Ok listen, I'm not a scientist nor do I ever pretend to even have a clue about science... but I really want this mini microscope.  How cute is that?  It will go nicely with the camera pendant I don't have yet, don't you think?

Knit Frog Dissection by The Crafty HedgehogKnit Dissections ($125-$150)
by The Crafty Hedgehog
I know what you're thinking.  "WTF?!," right? But how could I see these amazing knit dissections and not show them off?  I mean, who comes up with this geekery anyhow? Amazing.

I had so much fun highlighting some great stuff found via my feed reader last week, that I just had to do it again.  Nothing like some quick inspiration to get your day going, right?

Did you find any great entries in your feed reader this week?  Please do share them with me!

  • Check out this incredibly AWESOME idea to turn a pre-fab garden shed into a studio!  Stupid Brooklyn and my lack of backyard.  Maybe I'll put one up in the park? via - design*sponge

  • While you're at design*sponge, check out this super DIY project.  Turn a plain ol' ikea chair into a beside table with a drawer! *loooove*

So this morning I'm desperately seeking some kind of inspiration.  Naturally the first place I go is my hand dandy and overwhelmingly full feed reader (FYI - I use Feedly and you should too... best feed reader ever!).

I never seem to have enough time for all feeds I've subscribed to so I thought I'd try a little experiment today and highlight some of the pieces that caught my eye.  Let me know what you think, eh?  Did you find anything wonderful in your reader today?

You should see:
  • Check out this super fun video that is both emotional and makes me want to go out and play. Also inspired me to find the musician on Grooveshark. Take a listen to Gonzales solo piano work, it's beautiful. via- BOOOOOOOM
